The contenders in the next race should be Sherman, Queen’s Bridge and Prince Ponti. Include Racemaster – although i get the sense this might be to ensure a true pace. Sherman will need a true run race to get the best here , this is one of those races where, whatever beats Sherman, deserved to win the race – so good luck to Prince Ponti if that’s the case.. Hoping Sherman at least put’s in a commendable effort – because he’s my line horse for some future entries.

Sherman finished some way in front of river garden behind eyes wide open....sitting just off a slow pace like that doesnt seem to have been the right tactic. At some point rider should have gone out and firced a pace. But as they say its very difficult to get a true run route these days.

River Garden didnt improve...he was brought back to a short trip and that nearly undid him. On form he was a hot favorite when running behind eyes wide open at 1600...and he well should have been, and wiould likely win a maiden 1600 in a breeze....but eyes wide open was too good for him. Off that formline...the 2, 3, 4 horses behind eyes wide open should be able to win any truly run maiden 1600

I actually thought race masters job was to ensure a true pace up front....that one never even git going.

A qualified maiden where merit ratings are in the fifties cannot be any source of confidence
Yesterday was Shermans fifth attempt at the distance and his second after the race you refer to
its possible that he has improved if you go by his January run with Racemaster
