Been a long time since I bothered doing ratings ... but will pay R300 to test them out. Throws too many favourites. Two stand out bets appear to be Green Plains and Naafer... but neither have been on Scottsville before... and we know this has been the grave yard for raiders frequently in the passed. So half stake on the double....just under 10/1

3 horses for me today...

Kahula - 33/10 is generous, joburg form is half decent and with a good draw should be too good here.

Naafer - 2/1 about in some places, has a decent draw, has shown class and has the experience of racing on his side. Never been to scotsville but think he will be too good under Delpech.

Lonelyarethebrave - 12/1

Back down in the ratings to what is a winnable mark and has services of Smanga. Big value to be had at 12/1. Arguably better over a mile but the price is just too big.

The other feature races look open and should provide cracking finishes.

Neptunes Rain looks to have things going for her but Twelve Oaks cannot be ignored. Green Planes has proven her class and then we have all the cape raiders that look smart too. Call to account must be respected.

I've gone with Naafer as stated above.

Fillies Sprint looks open if looking past Carry On Alice, and that's what I would be doing. She has been a phenomenal racehorse and wish her all the best at stud but she has had a lot of racing. Live Life looks the filly on the up and I'm expecting her to go well. Bela-Bella is prepping but class could see her in the finish and same to be said with Just Sensual. Vision to Kill is a nice outsider inclusion.

Absolute minefield! Majority of the smart horses drawn on the outside which makes the task a little harder. Brutal Force has the drawn and striker has chosen him. Would be interested to see if Striker would have taken Janoobi if it got a good draw. He is one of the many lurkers for me. Attenborough looked smart last time out, Talktothestars showed a return to form in the Computaform Speint but will need luck. Bull Valley is no slouch and is a horse I really like on his day. I'd suggest field. Tentative pick of Brutal Force.

All the best!!!

Small differences in finding the right going/run can make a huge difference here so with the competitiveness of some of these I don't think anything is a bad bet if you get the right odds.

Will be playing race by race watching them go down, but Would love CoA to go out in style and think Brutal Force deserves G1 for consistency .

I do think Gulf Storm and Real Princess might pay well for places at this stage

Race 2: We have Royal Agree. Although she does just get a mile, we think she is better over shorter. The handicapper was harsh on her with 6lb raise when winning the first leg. She has an ew shout but may be out-stayed by The Poet and Reactive. Brave and Bold is consistent and should also be in the shakeup.
Race 3: Kahula has dropped in the ratings, is suited to the mile, has one of the better jockeys, good draw and seems to be coming to form. Looks the one to beat.
Race 4: Visuality last two runs show she is coming back to best and she is much classier than this lot although giving weight to all. If she doesn't win then very open.
Race 5: shortlist 3,7,8,9
Race 6: shortlist 1,4,5,7,8,10,12
Race 7: shortlist 1,8,9,10
Race 8: shortlist 1,2,3,6,9,12,16
Race 9: Head Honcho is on the upgrade and may have the class to win this. Very open if he fails.
