Elusive Silva and Banner Hill best in (narrowly) - for both imo they need to show that they are as good as their ratings - especially ES as he has a good draw as well. Any July contender that runs well here, will shorten after the race - so back your fancy before the race

Was one of my early value bets for the July - but did not run well in the Drill Hall - would need to go very close here to have any July hope

The final field for next week’s R500 000, Grade 2 Betting World 1900, the first of the traditional main pointers to the Vodacom Durban July, has trimmed from 27 entries to a competitive 15-horse contest with the promise of an exciting and close finish.
For 11 of the runners it could be their only chance to make the final big race field when they go to post for the 1 900m clash and particularly for the four runners that currently feature on the first July Log issued early this week.
Elusive Silva and It’s My Turn, both from the Justin Snaith stable along with the Geoff Woodruff-trained Master Switch are in the top 20 on the Log with another Snaith runner, Prince Of Wales, on the outside looking in for a run in the premier event.
Elusive Silva, winner of both the Winter Derby in the Cape and the Sledgehammer at Greyville is 16th on the Log with It’s My Turn, third in the Peninsula Handicap is in 18th place. Master Switch, third in the Sansui Summer Cup, fills 20th position.
Prince Of Wales, fourth in the Premier’s in the Cape and third in the Sledgehammer will be out to break into the top 20 but with some very talented opposition next Friday night – runners like Mr Winsome, Banner Hill, Serissa and Jubilee Line to name a few – the final scrap to the line could be hot and close.

Keagan felt something amiss and did not persevere with the ride.

i have a feeling that no kzn horse will make the final field for this years july.i cant see anything good enough from kzn to even run a place in the 1900,i cant see a kzn horse running a place in the daily news so how do they get to run in the july?maybe gold circle will allow a kzn runner a run, otherwise it will be just jhb and cape horses competing for the winner.

Thank you Deeno....see TGS runs in the 1900......must have recovered sufficiently and should be a goer....
