Yes, partnerships and syndicates don't count as 'an owner' for arcsa purposes.

Irwin astute judge, great for sales, great for racing, but possibly doesn't own a single horse outright and represents investors who can be in one syndicate horse and not another.

FYI, I heard that Irwin is the majority shareholder in Russian Sage, She's on Fire and On Her Toes. Mum's the word though, because if it got out it would spoil the impression that his partnerships are made up of people that put up the money so he can play for free. So keep it under your hat, okay?

Could be interesting, but what about Marsh Shirtliff? He's got to be in the frame, especially if he wins the July, and Jay Peg has carried his colours to two stunning wins overseas even if he doesn't own the horse by himself.

Shirtliff, with Pocket Power, River Jetez and Jay Peg is holding an awesome hand. He could even run 1-2-3 in the July (Floatyourboat).
But he could hold 99% of each, or 1% of each.
For ARCSA award purposes, how would the judges judge all the partnerships and syndicates fairly, and how would 'single' owners then compare?

The world of racing has changed and partnerships one day will be the norm. In this respect, statistics for owners will cease to become meaningful. On the good news front, when partnerships do make up the majority of ownership, racetracks throughout the world will be forced to treat partnership owners with the same respect they now apply to single owners. Won't that be nice!

Barry, don't misunderstand. I think you do an exceptional job. Your selection is so good, it's frightening. Your experience shows, and you manage your trainers even better.

But the topic here is arcsa owner award, the point is one doesn't know who owns what in syndicates and partnerships, so how would they qualify for an 'owner of the year' award? In your case, you may own nearly all Team Valor horses, or nearly none. Team Valor may have dozens of different interlocking partnerships and represent many individuals. It may be contrary of what the award is trying to honour. An example is I may own 10% in two top horses in different syndicates...should I eligible be owner of the year?

Guys

Which owner ended top of the owners prize money list last year and who got the award ? The rules can be twisted depending on which result you want.
