Not sure the last time a MR 87 horse managed to get in ?

Wendywood was merit rated 73 when she won the Woolavington at her second start. Ran in the July in her third start...

Jubilee Line has to win the Greyville 1900 or the Jubilee Handicap or The Cup Trial to get in.
major difference is wendywood was totally unexposed whereas jubilee is totally exposed

The last horse to win the Jubilee Handicap with a similar rating Eton Square (MR 88) who subsequently ran fourth in the July but as Pirates rightly pointed out before even Eton Square was not exposed.

Didn't realize it was still the case .... so then Master Switch (and even maybe Go Direct - not a July entry at present) looks very nice Ante-Post value, as the trainer stated before their last runs that he was looking to run them both in the 1900

Master switch @40/1 some places my bet. Woodruff said he'll be using the 1900 to sneak him in with a low weight

Master Switch is merit rated 101 and at the moment is carded to carry 53kg, the minimum weight of a 4yo colt and is under sufferance of 0.5kg as Captain America (MR 116) is the top weight if it runs. If it wins the Greyville 1900 it will pick up at least 4 to 6 points or more and it will therefore have a minimum rating of 105 thereafter. It will then carry at least 54.5kgs to 55.5kgs or more. If it runs second it can pick up at most 5 points and third 3 points.

Quick question,so many rule compromises...
If any horse won a 1600m+ Grade 1 in the recent CAPE Season, does it automically qualify for the this VodoJuly?

thanks.

The Cape Derby Winner winner Edict of Nantes in all likely hood will line up, it just needs to run close up in the Daily News 2000.

Bela Bela (MR 109) and Nightingale (MR105), with the former assured a place due to its high merit rating. The latter should get in, just needs to confirm its Grade 1 win with a good prep run. Problem is theres only two fillies races for Nightingale I can think of the Tibouchina over 1400m or the Gold Circle Oaks which just two weeks prior to the July. Nightingale of course can line up against the boys in host of July Graded Prep races.
