The point of racing is NOT to breed a better horse. Maybe that's the point of a breeder. Maybe all the breeder wants is to breed an expensive yearling.
The point of racing is whatever you want it to be, and for most people that won't be to breed anything at all. A bit of history will tell you what the point of grading races is, go and look at pattern racing.
