Turf TV broadcasts into the bookies like Ladbrokes. It is a channel that does the courses that the bookie shops cannot get off racing uk.

S**T!
I hope 'someone' takes it over and beams into UK bookies!
In terms of the 'bigger picture' no transmission no payment to P = less for stakes - no?
Can someone who knows the ins & outs (RA / P?) please advise.
I thought the whole idea of SA 'night racing' was for the 'international market transmission revenue' - no?
Oh well so much for watching my babies in the bookies - lol!
Worriedly, Jim.

'not licensed to do so' = Does that mean, the owners will receive payment in future from said 'licences'?
I think some form of 'statement' from those running SA racing needs to be forthcoming to explain the 'why & wherefors' in these matters.
Respectfully, Jim.

From Turf TV's website...

News: 3rd December 2007
TURF TV WINS EXCLUSIVE SOUTH AFRICAN RACING FROM SIS
Turf TV announced today that it has signed a three year exclusive licence deal to show South African racing in British and Irish betting shops.
Phumelela Gold Enterprises, the SA racing rights company, had previously licensed its rights exclusively to SIS, but from expiry of that deal in Spring 2008, Turf TV will be the only service that will show the best of South African racing. UK interest in South African racing has grown in recent years with more UK owners enjoying lower costs of ownership and training in South Africa. For the LBO market it has become a valuable complementary product to UK racing. It takes place in the same time zone as UK racing, but provides live racing in shops in late morning and through the busy lunchtime period, usually before the first UK races.
Turf TV has told customers it will not be charging extra fees for this additional content.
Alan Morcombe, Executive Chairman of AMRAC, said: "Adding South African Racing is the first step to deliver on our promise that Turf TV would have a broad range of high quality betting content, alongside the best of UK racing. Holding our price, despite the significant additional cost of the content, demonstrates our commitment to offering good value to our customers and the benefits of competition in the LBO market."
Jim Tennant, Group Chief Executive of Phumelela, said: "We have been impressed with the commitment behind Turf TV and we are pleased that it will now become the showcase for the best of South African racing as well as British racing."

Yippee!!!
I hope that means that as of today - Turf TV will beam into UK Bookies!
But back to the 'Licensing Agreement' - can anyone advise as to the amount of cash that equals 'extra' into the stakes pot from P?
Thanks Chris, much happier today!
Jim.

No betting available for SA racing on the Ladbrokes or William Hill sites. VC Bet and Corals are making it available.

I walked into Lads, wrote out my 'L15' and just as I finished the manager, took the form off the wall and said 'we're not carrying it' - I replied, that I knew SIS was no longer televising, but surely that doesn't mean betting as well - 'Yes, sorry' and he proceeded to throw said formin the bin!
I sincerely hope that this isn't the end of SA betting in Bookies!
Mind you if so - I'll open that Bet Fair acct I've been meaning too these past 2 years and benefit from the 'better prices' - HOWEVER - How will SA racing benifit from that!!!
From a worried recent SA Horse Owner - yiks!
Once again, it would be nice to hear from someone who actually knows what the hey is going on - and what is going to happen with said revenues in the future!
