It was my best bet selection for Flamingo posted earlier in this thread i e. Race 6 number 6 Beautiful Dawn which paid R11.50 on the tote for the win.
Based my pick on the fact that Bradley Maroun, her owner and trainer, had her as his only runner for the day so it was a fair assumption that she was there to earn a stake. Sorry I did not post this on the main thread but had nothing else to support my selection other than the above.
I learnt to check for this clue back in the mid 1990's when the Bloemfontein track was still operating and the jockey Gary Waterston would periodically travel all the way there from Gauteng for only 1 ride for the day, If he did not win he would at worst run a place irrespective of the previous form shown by the horse concerned. Always worth checking for this kind of thing on a card, although it does not appear very often.
