They need to teach these appies how to ride, strong ride on the winner but GUMEDE rode the whole length of the straight with the whip in his wrong hand, causing his mount to drift accross the track

What a fantastic ride by Anton Marcus, even in defeat. Looked highly likely to get swamped and run out the first 4... Anton 'Superman' just kept him going and going {hats off}

I can't help thinking that the CORRECT approach to closing down the Vaal Sand would have been to run Sand and grass meetings on the same day as is happening in KZN. The Sand would have run better also as the course could have been worked during grass races. This would have allowed the Sand runners to continue earning until a Poly could be built at Turffs. This was suggested to Phumelela but they decided against it

Jocks should learn to be closer to him earlier in races when he sets the pace(or goes handy as he often does) instead of trying to get past him over the final 200m.
