poor ride in my opinion,if your happy with it,then your easily pleased.
Riding from the 150metres mark was the problem,he should have put he's head down and kicked on earlier.
He got vigorous to late and only when he saw the winner coming up.
Mr Hawaii explanation is better than mine and summed it up best. I doubt Gift could do much more. Same like Ice Machine who was travelling far superior than others, saying Anton could have gone earlier but we know Ice Machine as stamina doubts so he was conserving Ice Machine. Thanks.

And what about Gift's ride on ROCKABELLA in the first race last Friday?
No one mentioning that one of the best backed horses on the day (favourite) has something wrong with its equipment.
I know that there are health and safety issues for tampering with a jockey's equipment, but surely professionals check and double check something as crucial as a saddle. The old cynic in me says that it was just too easy a set up.
Seems the only "Gift's" that were being handed out at that race meeting were to the bookies...

From memory Rockabella finishes (nominally, before disqualification) about 5th in the race only a few lengths off the winner.
Any sort of help from the saddle, she wins by 3 lengths.
Gift rides two of the horses that receive the most weight of money on the day (Rockabella O/P 18-10 S/P 14-10 ... La Rebel O/P 4-1 S/P 2-1) and both lose under very dubious circumstances...

Understandably so.
And the jockey or the trainer would not check the equipment because any jockey would trust their lives on the execution and set up of a bloke who earns a couple of grand a month.
