The Travers, 29 Aug
American Pharoah was made the 1-5 favorite in a 10-horse field and drew No 2.
The field from the rail out is Upstart (15-1), American Pharoah (1-5), Mid Ocean (50-1), Texas Red (8-1), Frammento (30-1), Frosted (6-1), Keen Ice (12-1), Tale of Verve (30-1), King of New York (50-1) and Smart Transition (20-1).
American Pharoah has already defeated six of his Travers rivals, including Keen Ice three times. Frosted ran fourth in the Derby, second in the Belmont and second in the Jim Dandy. Texas Red won the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the Jim Dandy.
It’s still unclear if another race is in the works before American Pharoah’s finale in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. After that race, he will be retired to Coolmore’s Ashford Stud.

Just the same as ppl say about our south african horses we are quik to call champions. Last few weeks has seen golden horn and ap both beaten fair and square. Are they champions? Or over rated? Who knows all i know is even if a horse like say Rabada(just an example) wins the triple crown, maybe even dailly news 2000 and we say champion and he runs 2nd in july all the anti south african horse racing peepz will be vvv quik to say we are too quik to label a horse an a champion. Imo these horses r champions and AP is a champion vvv unfair to compare to the champs of yesteryear as sooo many things change.. Training methods, food, track surfices, weather conditions (if one has to look at the global warming facts), oposition, all many more factors. BUT we all need a champion, a horse to watch and love and imo AP and golden horn r those kinds of horses. Lol this mayb just another 2am post. Lol
