Tristan has ridden the horse 6 times for 5 places...hardly a bad record??? If I was the owner I would be quite happy to have this kid on, they clearly get on well.....
Give everything but up!

On Friday night,Noor Dubai won in spite of his ride ,not because of it!!!! I had a few multiples ending with that one and nearly had a thrombi.........but I would have taken my medicine as I can't expect a Delpech ride" from a lightie .......and enjoyed a better price than with Delpech up.

Clanners I also blame jockeys for their riding. My horse won the other day. The jockey did not ride to instructions and we were all upset during the race because the way he was riding . While we were still complaining we saw her come down the centre of the straight the jock gave her three smacks put the stick away and head down and won going away. The jockey came back with good information telling the trainer that he could not ride her to his instructions because she did not responded so he let her do what she wanted but assisted her. So come on complaining Poopauls lets get behind our young jocks and cheer them on. Thanks again to Craig for his transparency.

Who would you put on, an apprentice who you consider better than Tristan but could not pick Chill out of a 3 horse line up or Tristan who rides the horse in 90% of his work and gets off and tells you he felt this or that with the horses which was different to last week or whatever? Also, what are you insinuating with Michael and Keegan?
Craig I am simply suggesting stats does not lie and therefore Chill given all the variables of the race competition was not in a position to win that race.
It is my opinion that trainers that uses the data available to them today ( only recently become available) will be in a MUCH better position to know which runners to enter in which races with serious probability to win.
Why are you suggesting I am " insinuating" anything? Is this industry so crooked that you assume everything is an attack?? I was merely suggesting that there is more to a horse winning than just a jockey's riding skills...do you have to be on the "defence" so quickly ...I was never insinuating anything....maybe read my previous post again.

Loopy L, Wikipedia quote the saying " lies, damned lies and statistics" as a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments.
Anyway seriously, who would you put on Chill and at which course and distance( I am waiting for Pirates to say Clairwood! ) and what type of race? I am just wondering what you meant about Michael and Keegan as you do not specify what you are writing about.

The purpose of my question, was simply to try and fathom the logic, reasons and/or strategies behind Jockey selections. They don't seem to make sense to me.
No insinuations or jibes.
Blondie, you always seem to get personal on just about any issues !
Take some anti-stress tablets.
Now give me the excuses for De Melo on Corresolve on Sunday.
And probably on Midnight Lace at Turffontein Race 3 tonight.
No insinuations or jibes.

Please WATCH this Video and tell me WHAT De Melo did wrong ? He jumps from draw 2 , uses that draw to great effect and keeps the horse going up the straight only to be beaten with 50m to go - What would you have liked him to do? He pushed and rode that horse out all the way - Please tell me what he did wrong as I cannot see anything wrong -
Remember these youngsters are trying to find their way and If you want to slag them do it with proof if you must(I believe that a good horse can make any jockey look good) - This is their future so when you make sweeping statements please provide proof. I am old enough to realize what it was like to be young. I would have De Melo or Dillion ride any horse I owned

Terrible thread
as long term punters we should know better than to slaughter kids for nothing
As i have already said on this thread two of the biggest trainers in the country are using these kids, and they don`t fuck about with sentiment

What has surprised me is that some of the older trainers are often quite outspoken about how unhappy they are generally with the new appie's work ethics (I'm sure there are exceptions)
Uncle Ormie was nearly speechless on the matter the other day and The Good has mentioned it a few times :woohoo:

It's the old 80/20 rule 20% of them will go on to achieve greater heights and 80% will plod on and just make a living.
