we are "good buddies" despite our difference of opinion on his ride on Mountain Master which got plenty of coverage in The Citizen's Racing Express.
His achievement gives racing a feel-good factor - what a pleasure to be part of racing history.

I didn't see the media exposure.

One of the Clanners estimates Striker has won/earned over R 12 Million during this period.

This would have served as a huge incentive for youngsters.

I understand his next milestone is 5000 SA winners , he had 72 off shore.

I met a photographer from the Times who had made the trip to the Vaal on Thursday so what more could have been done (Andrew Bon was there filming, waiting for the big one) - Today I heard PS was on 702 also - Remember 5000 winners to you and me is amazing but the man on the street that does not race does not care a bit or every paper in the country would have a serious Racing page. You cannot force people to print Racing stories if their readers don't want them unfortunately - I sat on the Deck at the Charity Mile and know that many many publications were guests there but if the Editor does not deem it newsworthy what can you do - Years ago we had a strong Racing Press but i'm afraid times changed and Racing was kicked into touch - In the old days The Citizen was actually very limited in it's coverage with mainly Fields being shown - The current version is way superior and at least everyday there is a racing link on the front page - Hard sell Racing and that's a fact
