Colours, public transport is superb in the UK for racing and sports, you don't drink and drive and the options are trains, coaches and taxis

come on guys look at the beauty of the british racecourses compared to ours ,they have proper racecourses situated in the most beautiful areas with lush green grass and trees that you can see as far as the naked eye can see plus these racecourses and the races run on them are steeped in history and tradition so who wouldn't you want to go racing there?compare this to ours barring Kenilworth and its a no brainer as most of our tracks look like greyhound tracks these days plus they situated in areas of stench and filth ...

French stakes amongst the best in the world but their racing is terrible
Look at the Arc trials today there will be less people on track than their will be at Burger King for breakfast
The Arc meeting itself is lacking atmosphere , only a few hunder Londoners make the atmosphere slightly better
US racing struggling
UK tracks booming but the prizemoney stinks ( Saturday prizemoney very good )
Honk Kong racing is pish but booming
Ireland race 3 times a week
Austrailia success is unbelievable
Japan you can win more in a class 5 handicap than a SA grade1 and the crowds on big race days are the biggest on the planet

There is still plenty of big bucks rolling around in racing though. One stallion share in Tapit goes for R30 800 000... yes that is thirty million rands!!! That makes him worth over R1.5 BILLION!!!!! He stands at Gainesway Farm in the US, and Anthony Beck is still the big boss there.

EMERALD CUP 2014 SIZZLES!
A record crowd descended on the Vaal Racecourse for the running of the 10th
Emerald Cup, a fine day out celebrating the beauty of thoroughbred horse
racing and spectacular performances from top South African artists.
Triumph for the much anticipated Grade 2 race, run over a distance of 1450m
on the Vaal sand track went to Tommy Gun who outperformed a strong field by
making most of the running from the word go. The Corne Spies trained
gelding was gallant all the way to the winning post denying Uncle Tommy the
title.
The course was a flurry of action as patrons eagerly cheered on their
favourite horses whilst the Emerald stage kept racing fans entertained with
performances from Lonehill Estate, Daniel Baron, Mathew Mole and Lloyd Cele
who put on their best performances and kept the crowds entertained well
into the evening. Another highlight of the day was the annual grooms
sprint which saw a field of 40 participants take to the race track
competing for the R15 000 stake.
Phumelela’s Marketing Manager Michael Varney commented “As Racing. It’s A
Rush we are pleased with the success and growth of the Emerald Cup. Today’s
crowd and proceedings echoed our message wonderfully, racing isn’t just
about gaming; a day at the races is part of a tangible lifestyle.”
