John Nel - did he not start with Barend Botes - I remember seeing him at the Vaal on Weekends before the crack of dawn - Remember Port of London that won the 2 year old feature Golden Horseshoe over 1400m during July day back in 2003??? John Nel knows Port of London very well.

This is correct, that was my first job in racing. Port of London was a top Juvenile by London News, won the Golden Horse Shoe drawn 14/14 start to finish with Naude on top. Fallon I think ran second ran second. Soon after that he went on to Hong Kong for Tony Millard and raced under the name Zambucca.
