Yip - unfortunately we mostly seem to hear about these things afterwards - either the stables are keeping their cards close to their chests, or nobody asks the right questions - or a combination of both.
Not a card that really excites me, two juvenile features where an unpredicted result is always a possibility, the Fillies Sprint that looks like a foregone conclusion (break a leg, Neigh) and an ultra-competitive handicap where the draws and luck in running will probably have the final say.
For what it's worth, from a value prospective, I'd suggest Miss October as a place bet in the Fillies Sprint, while both Snowdon and Readytogorightnow look the value in the Golden Horse
Off to a family commitment - should really be thankful as it will probably save me some money.
Enjoy (tu)

You could have got 8/10 when the betting opened.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I'll give one horse per race that i fancy.....beware, this is a tricky looking card.
1) Wren (likes Scottsville)
2) Western Music - Reported to be working well last time and is a half sister to Accord who loved Scottsville and loved to go a trip.
3) Meet at Meydan EW - Loves Scottsville, low draw and claim.
4) Capricorn Ridge - seems to be the improver here.
5) Balkan - She seems to be the graft here.
6) Harry's Son - Was bumped last time and has run at Scottsville twice. He is also drawn well. COuld be outmatched though.
7) Via Africa
Castlethorpe - Seems to be loving his racing at the moment and even though this is too short, if the pace is on he could run them down. Decent value at his current odds in a race where there are more questions than answers.
9) Polychromatic - Back to a better distance, the crazy Italians favorite trainer and a random pick in an open F&M handicap
Play well!

Two from me at this track today.
Race 3 - Very difficult handicap and probably should have avoided but think Cat In Command can easily outrun these odds and go very close. Was a good maiden winner on penultimate start over 1450m, indicating that he'd need a step up in trip at some stage as he was doing all his best work late. It's very probable though that the 2000m task he was set last time was just too far, and is dropped to a more sensible trip today. The ground that day was also quite testing and I think it's worth ignoring really. Back to the mile today (a trip he ran well over in Maiden company) and it just looks his ideal trip. Richard Fourie in the saddle today and I think he'll go very close. The big danger is Morpheus who was so impressive last time out, but I'm not totally convinced that this trip is what he wants and I'm always sceptical of horses coming out of a maiden and into a tough handicap, so I'll swerve him. I don't really think the form of the current fav in Vertical Approach is up to much and although he should be a single-figure price, there's too many imponderables with the trip and his ability.
Race 4 - Rocco's Luck isn't my usual bet as he's a last time out winner but only escapes with a 3lb penalty and I think that's exceptionally lenient. The form of that win has worked out well, with the runner-up beating a subsequent winner on their next start. Rocco's Luck is a little more exposed than some of these in the field but arrives in the race in good form, has a really solid record over this distance with two wins from seven starts, and a further two third places. He also a good record round the track and I just think his current odds are decent value. I'd have him at around 3/1 or 7/2 after his last win and as long as they go a good pace (potential front-runners are Capricorn Ridge and Stolen Destiny) then has every chance here.

flame cat is the only filly to run majmu close and also beat carry on alice when she made her debut so any reason why she is 20 to 1 while majmu was 7 to 10 before scratching and carry on alice is favourites in the colts race?
