Agree 100%, its the same old lot again who probably have no chance in winning the race. Maybe an improving 3 yr old or two is the way to go.

With all the hype around Futura gud win on Friday I beg to ask What did it run against?
Me thinks dat Futura will improve but does not necessiatate a July invite.
I'm also of da opinion dat each trainer must only be allowed one entry in da July.

Futura doesn't now or anytime in the past think he will get into the July based on his run on Friday night. It was just another stepping stone to qualify himself for a bigger race between now and the July. If he wins the DN or runs a good race he will get in, simples.

You guys are focusing too much on what happened on Friday. nobody is under the disillusion that Futura should qualify based on that run......

He is top class. Let's wait and see where they go from here.

If the connections are smart , they would run him in the cup trial, where should he win he may be the best handicapped horse in the july . Running him in the daily news could be risky (if he wins it or runs close up ) he will be bumped up in mr and
will race off a mass close to the likes of the current top 3yo's .

I guess your thinking is he may not be bumped as much by running close in the Cup Trial (handicap) than by running close up in the DN - ideally I think (as I mentioned on the 'July Log' thread) they are probably hoping he gets in without another run - personally I doubt that he has done enough, so they may need to run him somewhere - if he does indeed go for the DN and beat the other top 3 yr olds - he may end up giving them weight in the July; but if he gets beaten say 5 lengths, he may not make the final field :S. Either way, I still find it hard to understand why he has shortened so drastically in the betting (currently 3rd favorite above a horse like Yorker who is sure to make the final field) :S :S

So I would agree, his best option is probably the Cup Trial - by winning that I think he would get 'preferential treatment' (like Espumanti for winning the 1900) - would be interesting which way it would go if the final spot in the July has to be decided between these 2 ::o The winner of the Cup Trial gets automatic entry into the Champions Cup - for what it's worth

four wins in five starts, over three different distances, three different courses and bred to stay even further. impressive so far, will definitely make the July field and probably win it....
