I know I'm not Engels, so hopefully I qualify as a 'gent' - the way it is going today (and taking the first race into account) I'd say Magic of Rome is the right one >:D<

If I were to do his in a top 5 Greg it would be

Dream Leader
Jolly GS
Eagle Face
The Professor
Jimmy's Lightning

So JL is probably the right one! (:P)

I think you might give him more credit than he is due, personally I side with thinking that he hasn't got the feintest idea which of his will run best. Someone once said on here, he will have winners, he will just never know which and when. Think that is quite possibly a very fair assessment.

That young appie seems to be getting his pace wrong a bit since he went to JHB,or is Jhb racing just superior to KZN? (:P)

I think LG mentioned Black Pepper some time back - I actually had a few pennies on him last time - but he was never in the race - today drawn right on the inside (a disadvantage ?) so not for me - this is one race where if I had the field in the P6 / JP I would keep on checking my ticket to make sure that I did not leave out anything by accident - not that I'm involved any more - Sybil took care of that :(

And the fact that I am singled out... does that imply I am not a gent?? :S :X (:D

Here we go again,

Trainer/jock runs unplaced on the favourite, then wins the next with non favorite.

Do we have short sited stipes, who either cannot or will not read into these occurrences which happen on a regular basis.

What is the criteria used to appoint stripes, and how do they get appointed, and who are these stipes.?

It would be in the interest of the racing public to publish the names of the starters and stipes for each meeting, in the same way that changes, card scratchings etc, are published.

Can anyone clarify, exactly what role does a stipe play in monitoring racing.

What guidelines does a stipe use, what are controls used, and ultimately, who does a stipe report to.
