Most bookies can't lay the big multiples, we had a big punter that used to have very large multiple bets and I had to tell him it was pointless betting with us as he bust our limits if they popped, but he wouldn't cut his stakes because he was happy when he had the 3 out of 4

So I used to take his bets and give the atc away to a bookie with a bigger limit ,hoping it would pop (:P)

Barcode can run from 8 to 12 digits

If 13 digits, the first digit will be before the first line on the barcode

Correct
The first 3 digits actually is the country code. South Africa is 600

You guys are talking about retail barcodes, found on products in the shops, which must conform to an international standard.

When a barcode is for internal use only, which this one surely is, it can be any length, any format, since no one else is required to scan it.

Some bookmakers were laying 6300/1 on the quad and were desperately trying to layoff before River Crossing ran. I ended up having a stake equivalent to R10.00 (63000/10) in the end. River Crossing went from like 12/1 to 8/1, then slashed to 22/10. I watched as it looked like money was flowing on for RC but it was just multiples of bets taken earlier. After H54 won the MET I took doubles with Hollywood for 60.00 bucks and that worked out 4800/60 just on the double.
