Ferguson says Moyes can ring him whenever he wants,

I just hope David's phone contract still has unlimited calls.

So David Moyes told a reporter, "The fans are behind me."

He's right.

Liverpool fans, Chelsea fans, Arsenal fans...

Shant be commenting Mike. Win and everyone talks about us. Lose and everyone talks about us. Its just a great club to support and people can talk sh1te and moan all they want , it won't change the success I'll be eternally thankful for that unied have had in the last 20 years or that I will remain United til I die. keep chirping little children :D

PS Go look at the 5 seasons before Fergie joined and the first 5 seasons he was in charge. No doubt all the Moyes knockers would have got rid of Fergie within a year... and look what you United fans would have missed.

I was looking at some Man U statistical history - only three managers have ever led them to a top flight league title - Ernest Mangnall (1903-1912) 2 titles, Busby (1945-1969) 5 titles, Ferguson (1986-2013) 13 titles. Considering they have had 19 full time managers you could say Moyes is merely fitting in with the general trend!

With the Amount of money and the strong competition that the BPL has now, if you miss the boat, its very difficult to recover. This sport is nomore about loyalty n tradition. Its about numbers, money n silverware. U buy a £27mill player-U MUST play him(afroman)even though he is shit! U finish out of top 4 as oppose to the last manager winning it and ur days r numbered-i don't care what club u are in.

The huge difference btwn Fergie and Moyes job is Fergie did nt take over the best team in England for he past 20 years with 13 titles, with the largest fan base in the world, he was given time because not much was expected. Moyes has the pressure of the world on his shoulder of a club who know nothing but success in modern times. No1 is going to give him the next 20 years, trust me. I doubt he will last till end of season if nothing is doing

sometimes the upswing never comes again. In 1888–89, Preston North End became the first league champions and the first winners of "The Double", becoming the only team to date to go throughout an entire season unbeaten in both the league and FA Cup – winning the FA Cup without conceding a goal.
Preston were league champions again the following season, but have not won the title since.

The thing about Champions: "We NEVER panic". That is why we had a manager for 25 years.

Just when you think we are knocked out, we will come storming back...maybe not this season, but we WILL definitely come back.

Instead of criticizing us, take a leaf out of our book. Maybe then your club can dominate for 20 odd years as well.

As you have at least done a post with creditability Sheza, I shall comment and hope for once the thread can become a decent discussion rather than immature prattle, boring jokes and moaning... depending on how it develops will determine whether I comment further or just ignore it and yawn ;)

There is truth in what you say Sheza but you are clearly no United fan. Having gone so long without winning the League the pressure on any United manager to succeed when Fergie came in was huge. He was given time in the belief that what he was doing was right for the club long term. I think that now, in the true supporter, partly through seeing the struggles of Liverpool and more recently Arsenal, there is an acknowledgement that no team has a divine right to success, particularly in the modern day where certain clubs can operate with scant regard for making the books balance. I also think it is generally "accepted" that United won the League last year without the best team and that though plenty good young players have been bought in recent years, RVP is probably the only world class player that came and we are now some way back. Whether RVP was a good buy in the long term is imo questionable.

Moyes will not be given the amount of time Fergie had that is for sure because we now live in times where football has become a business far more than a game and yes, Moyes will have far more pressure on his shoulders because of that than Fergie did but, unless one is completely dumb (and Fergie was not) you could see more testing times were coming and I for one thought it would come sooner than it has. They rightly say you have to buy to refresh and strengthen a winning team and United simply have not done that with the required quality over the past few years.

The real test for Moyes imo is creating his team over the next 8 months and gpoing on from there which looks like they will win the league, it is not about today but about prospects for the future. That might involve spending one huge chunk of money though and I am not sure United have that amount to spend... and, even if they do, they have to ensure that Sh1ty and Ski (PSG, Real etc) don't usurp them with offers of 5 million more to both club and player, even Fergie with his "contacts" and reputation openly admitted that time and again he could not get the top quality players because others would outbid him and offer the player more, which is why he always wanted his transfers to be hush hush until the deal was done. It is rare these days that someone like RVP will insist on United rather than Shity. Sad but true.

We live in an age of open cheque books that not even United can compete with. We are also in a period of time where quality British players are hard to find so creating a current side in England similar to that say of Barcelona or Bayern is nigh on impossible. But, Moyes has been good at building teams and the nucleus of a good squad is there, so it is quite possible he can build his own team without shelving out a fortune. it is simply a question of whether he can get the players in January or the summer that create a very strong team, whether they be superstars or not. As I said before, the likes of Fabregas would imo have been a huge step in the right direction and I thought it was a great move to try and get him but it was not to be. Naturally, there are concerns currently but there was a sort of inevitability imo that it would come, he was simply left a side that has not been say of 1999 standard for a long time. The loss of Carrick etc recently has also had a big impact and should not be overlooked, any United fan who knows much about football knows what an important role he plays, he may not be Roy Keane but he is a quality player in that position nonetheless. There may a huge fall-out, a mass exodus, relegation, we may be playing Conference football inside a decade, such is football but, more so now than any other time, beware the wounded devil, there is a heart beat in that club you will find difficult to match anywhere in the world...

Except that Ferguson was a game away from being fired in 90/91 (?) season
- had to win the FA Cup.
