Guys I am not trying to run Via Africa down as she is very good. I am just saying be careful. With the help of Winning form I have gone through the form and on a line though What a Winter, Via Africa is not as good as Val de Ra. On a line through Cherry tripper, Schiffer( who had not run for 11 months and reportedly needed the run) has 1.75 lengths to make up on Via Africa at level weights, let alone the 7kg pull she has on on Saturday. It is not cut and dried.

Schiffer was not extended at all her first run back, she was simply taken through the race with care by the jock. With a 7kg advantage she'll take some beating.

What a race. Between them they havr run 73 races for 39 wins and only 12 unplaced runs. Victorian Secret obe of my favourites but will surely be sucking the hind tit hete

Some time back a popular,respected, racing personality('R')from CT mentioned that Schiffer is the best sprinting filly in SA.
Good last comeback win.

Craig you compare Val da Ra with WAW, but he had problems and only really came good right at the end of his career ( straight from the horses mouth). VdR never ran in the races, company VA did as a three year old, only as a four year old. GREAT for VAR what a stallion !! I do however agree this is a prep race for all and at the weight turn-around its not going to be easy for VA but she is class !! IF its going to be soft it will suit her even more. Looking at the forecast it will play right into her hand. VA to win by 2

Neigh they both had problems and big ones. The one(from what I am told) with the least is Via Africa. As I said, I am not running VA down but just be careful. It is not cut and dried. With regards WAW, he had won 6/8 when he took on VDR the first time and she beat him and the 2nd time they met he had won 8/11.He had given her 0.5kgs and 2.5kgs and she beat him 1,25 and 0.4 lengths. When he beat VA he had won his last 3/8 races and then gave her 6kgs and 4.5kgs and beat her 0.75 and 1.25 lengths. Certainly it would seem to indicate that VDR is the best sprinting filly we have seen for many years.

No argument at the end of her career, but at this point in VA career she is ahead of VdR .
