I could be totally wrong, but as I understand it, our biggest 'market' that P is trying to get to 'wager' into our pools, is the USA, so from that point of view a breakfast meeting would not make sense - if P is serious in tempting the Yanks to bet on our racing, lights should be erected at every venue, then we can have night racing most days of the week - but I suppose the problem in the short term would be how to finance this; but if that can be done, it could also secure a future for local racing - or am I smoking my socks :S

we take Aussie racing and I think we have more in common with them than the USA so our Racing would fit right in with them in the morning (you will also reach the large Asian market)

Mr H i am not sure about this !
Say they put up a 9 race card . Each race would generate +- R400k in turnover (9x 400k=3.6 mil) then you have the exotics Pa(500k) , p6(500k) and jpot(400k)
total turnover generated +- 3.6mil+1.4mil =5mil their takeout , more or less 25% which equates to 1.25 mil .
If each race had a stake of R70k , total steke money= R630k , that leaves the operators with R595k to cover the days operating expenses on track plus a lot of cash left in their pockets for one day's work ..........................................
so surely it can be done
the poly should be used to its fullest extent , for now it seems durable . The grass tracks need to recover after regular racing , If the operators do not exploit this avenue then they are ignorant . The races will be full there are just tooooo many horses sitting in boxes at present in Pe .

but remember just because there is another local meeting does not mean that the local punter has more money to spend - The gambling rand locally is limited and getting smaller every day due top the poor economy. I think running in the morning would be best because you can sell the product off and get foreign bettors involved without "sharing" your rand with the other local meeting that suit other time zones. A brunch meeting would add some spice to the pot
