I thought the amendment to the guidelines were meant to give the handicappers room to exercise their judgement but its strange how often they just apply the rules even when the rules don't make sense

IMO..... Potala P needed a bigger bump in rating to be able to get into Gr 1 features.....was overlooked for the Gr2 sand bash.....:S

he was omitted...not on Gr2 status...but more on sand form...he ws ahead of many that ran on official ratings...so..no need for a bigger bump if he wants to contest on grass

i see at the vaal sand tomorow cante libre has a 13 pound hike to her sand rating for winning last time but thats not all the 4th placed horse planet queen has gone from a58 to an 80 a 22 pound hike to her sand rating...this 5yo mare has failed to win off a sand rating of 59 before in fact has had 9sand runs for 4 placings....:S

And they are 2nd and 3rd favorites for the race. Makes Sols Gold stick out like a sore thumb.

On those ratings Kinematic Countess and Approximate ran to their ratings - so imo those could prove fair - prove of the pudding will off course be tomorrow
