The usual mix of some pretty straight-forward looking races mixed up with some real open-looking affairs - thoughts on the PA races:

R2: Not impressed that Belle Coco had to be taken out, Miss K looked great value a 2/1, now I have to live with a 25% deduction; still she seems very hard to oppose and imo is still the best bet by far on the card.

R3: Another favorite who looks really hard to oppose, yes it is her 22nd start, but she has most of the opposition beat on the run behind Royal Taska; only possible improvers could be Princess Faul (but she seems to be lacking early pace) and Soft Sand (who should not mind the surface on breeding, but could be suspect over the distance); Soukous shows pace and could hold on for a place, but really Noble WInd looks hard to beat

R4: Another straight forward looking contest where Sub Shaawes only needs to jump on terms to win this; slight concern is a wide draw and also as I write no jockey has been declared (would be a worry to me if the appy gets the ride); if SS jumps slow again, I think Just a Thought from a nice draw will improve over the 1200 to finish in front of both Royal Stock and Translator - really can't see anything else

R5: More competitve; Mr Alfonso does look the right one from a good draw, but has effectively gone up 9 points in the ratings; should still be able to take that in his stride, has run well over 1200 without the blinkers before behind Cachasa and is my first choice; Funny Glory was my original close 2nd choice, but that's out, so Mr A certainly appeals a little more; most of the others could feature if Mr A fails, so it's either Mr A or the field in the PS and JP.

R6: Now it really gets tough - can make a case for all of these, except perhaps Sols Gold and Jannu (sure needed those couplings for P6 purposes); Bareback and Victory Call look the value at 20/1 and I'd be including both in my PA (in addition to the more 'logical' ones like Passion Pleaser and Angel Gabriel)

R7: Only 8 runners, but still not easy if the 'logical' choice Enchanted Guest gets rolled; EG has taken to the sand, but I can't help but feel that he would prefer 1800, as would be the case for all of Mauri Blue, Muthiah Pillai and Spectroscope imo - in fact were this race over 1800, I would prefer Spectroscope. Still all 4 need to be considered. Boy oh Boy ran a great race behind Pylon in his pinultimate start (as did S in his last start), only to run below that form last week, so hard to know what to expect; if BoB repeats the run behind Pylon, he will win this; Cookie Monster is a bit of an unknown over the 1600 on the sand; my gut feel is that he would prefer shorter, but again not one to be ignored, and even Caryl's Law could upset if returning to the sort of form that saw him winning the Flamingo Mile last year (and he did find some betting support las time)

R8: Another competitve race to close; Sugar Ray is in form and holds Silver Specialist (break a leg, Elvis) on their runs behind King's Joy, but that was over 1800, and although SS has won over 2000, he has not been able to produce his best over 1800 :S- so maybe over the 1600 it could get closer - still hard to see SS make up more than 6 lengths on SR. Not much to chose imo between the Erasmus runners Kudos (wide draw a disadvantage) and Chedwin Park (nicely drawn but may prefer shorter on the sand) - and to make it more confusing Brown takes the ride on the off form Night Embers seemingly in preference to Kudos; only others who could feature imo are Divine Invitation, who tries the blinkers and could surprise if returning to best and maybe First Sugar who gets 4 kg's off his back courtesy of the appy
