Easy I think you're underestimating the quality of the riders we have in Singapore. Corey Brown is one of the most reputable riders in Australia, Manoel Nunes, also from South America, has been champion jockey of Macau for any years, Jose Verenzuela has ridden with much success all over the world and has also had success in Dubai - notably on World Cup night a couple of years ago. Perhaps you're forgetting our own Barend Vorster who won the Met on Polo Classic and has made a name for himself here. Alan Munro, an English jockey who won the English Derby on Generous and in fact also rode for a while back home. So yes Joao isn't quite the huge fish in a small bowl - he has more than sufficient opposition who are highly talented.

For the record Joao does his own rides but is an astute form studier and rides a great deal of work - the recipe for success.

just watched his last 2 rides the noticeable thing was the proffesionalism of the comentator bearing in mind that the KZN guy goes MENTAL when a horse wins by 3 lengths..................
