The Darwin Turf Club has today set-up The Montgomerie Fund to raise funds for the family of Simone Montgomerie and her five-year-old daughter.
The fund was immediately kick-started by the Northern Territory Government which donated $50,000, as did DTC sponsor CUB.
The Darwin Turf Club, in conjunction with Thoroughbred Racing Northern Territory, decided the prize-money of the Darwin Cup - $200,000 – would be donated to the Fund.
The WESTPAC details for The Montgomerie Fund are BSB – 035 302 and Account Number – 418752.
DTC Chairman Brett Dixon has encouraged people to contribute to the fund at any branch of the WESTPAC.
We encourage anyone who would like to support the family to do so at WESTPAC,” Dixon said.
A full investigation is underway into the fall yesterday.
It is being conducted by TRNT stewards and NT Worksafe.
A coronial investigation is also underway.
