Nice day in Gauteng, just a bit chilly, Turffontein tracks although getting hard, still looks better than the Vaal; some interesting racing imo - some thoughts:
R3; Looks a straight forward 3 horse contest (al the best oscar (tu)) - slight preference for me is Clear Sky.
R4: Straight forward again imo - 2 horse contest between Quad Bay and Roman Express - preference for RE because of the draw - only other one to catch the eye is Jet Fever - but he may prefer further imo - Chapel of Love a quartet inclusion.
R5: The first of 5 handicaps in a row - interesting to see Potala Palace back, but this may be a prep for next week and the trip looks too short now; all of the others look to have some sort of chance - Lost Island the biggest price, but could prove value as he is more than 13 kg's better off with Dual Asset for less than a length beating iover this trip n December - field race imo.
R6: Indian Striker returns to his favorite track and looks the right one for me from Isobar, who has the advantage of pole position; Irish Gift looks sure to be right there again after a disappointing sand effort last time; Due and Payable steadily dropping in MR and could also challenge here - those are my first 4, with smaller chances to Parkwood (handicapper may have got him now), Turnstone and Carnaby Street.
R7: Competitive sprint; Prince Jazeem lightly raced and probably has improvement to come in his 2nd start after a rest and is my tentative first choice from Duty Dance, but many of the others have chances, so this is probably another race to go as wide as the budget allows - luckily quite a few couplings for P6 purposes.
R8: Uptothemoon was expected to go close last time already, so for me looks nice value today at around 7/1; obviously the de Kock coupling is a threat with Mystic Tigress, Cat's Game disappointed me last time, but that was a real 'funny' race, so maybe could set the record straight today; also Tresco can't be completely ignored as her MR continues to drop and even Pure Silver at the bottom of the boards could upset if returning to her best
R9: The Oaks seems to have a lot in her favour, but there are plenty of challengers at longer prices imo; Divine Grace has a nice draw and is finding betting support, so definite inclusion imo; not much between DG and Dona Datia, so if one fancies DG, DD must come into it as well; Ohiki Bay has a decent draw and is better off in the weights with The Oaks on the Royal Wings form, so no suprise if OB can turn the tables; for some real long shots, maybe have a look at Forever After (who holds her stable mate Passionate Kiss on form) and New Light, who is improving after a rest and has won at this track.
Enjoy (tu)

Race 1:
I don't think Saucalito Bay has to be too good to win this. Crown Bearer does have the 4kg's off the back which should make her competitive but my concern is if I remember correctly she doesn't stride out too freely. Look at what she looks like going down. She could again tie up in the last 50m's or so? Countess Grace with the Sherminator up must have a chance of running into the QT. Wallia is out of a quick mare who I believe also raced in the Makins' colors. She won 5 I think? I just don't fancy Spanish Harlem tham much though.
Perhaps if you can get 3/1 then Saucalito becomes a little E/W tickle otherwise just watch and enjoy the 2 year olds running all over the course!

Race 2:
I did not like the run of Nix Power in race 1 so Our Boy blake must be a little concern now. He ran a head in front of Nix Power behind Greasepaint.
Gems a Plenty should be hard to beat now. I fancy Jimmy's Lightning to run a good race. He showed pace on debut behind a decent horse I feel. He should be running at them over this quick 5 fulrongs. Jock of no concern to me.
Perhaps another Erasmus exacta?

Jimmy's Lightning has shortened into 8/1 from 25/1 - need Sherman to close out my double.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
