Last night was shocking. I threw in the towel. I will try Firefox and see how that goes. I dont like Chrome cos Norton is always complaining about high cpu usage from that app.

first look at the cause which could be programmes that run that should not come on and arent correctly installed, re install your operating system and dont install bloat ware, check for any virus, add memory and add bigger hard drive. Check graphics card as that can make things slow also. Defragment your hard drive. Ideal operating system would be windows 7.

Fix 1:
Ever been in windows and you tried to browse to a network share or load a web site and it stops working?
This can happen allot with windows as its dns cache can become corrupted. This easy fix will clear it out and get you going without having to reboot.
Open a command prompt window or open the run command. Then simply put in "ipconfig /flushdns". (Without the " of course.) This will tell windows to flush its dns cache. You will notice network shares, web sites, and other things network related will start working again.

I think I have the same problem as The Madji. I haven't yet downloaded Firefox as I think I could still be wasting my time. I thought one reason for all the "hanging" could be that I am still running with an old expired version of McAffee. Could this be so? But I will try Phirobeta's possible remedy. The problem is only with ABC.

Something else that helped me in the past.... but Google first...
Fix Winsock Manually on Windows 7
1. Open up the command line utility and enter:
netsh winsock reset catalog (resets winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (resets TCP/IP stack)
2. Reboot your PC

sometimes you need to check if your Windows Updates have downloaded (other updates too) I find that sometimes me PC hangs and is slow when a download is ready - When I switch off I am notified that there are 7 updates etc
