They need lots of hands to open our bags in Jhb.....earlier this year 8 of us travelled overseas and 6 had bags broken in to.....SAA full on every flight and they still cant make money...now we see why!Pay for the fat cats on the top tier and the sheltered employment below.....

Have asked him to find out some more info....says Kenyan 4179...37 planes(112).....Egyptian 7600....83 planes(91).....interesting reading..... who knows how accurate these are though....however you look at it must be impossible to come close to SAA

Holy cow Callatus... we just spent two weeks abroad and took only 2 bags combined weight 25kg's (:D ... 23 kg's is a LOT of clothes.

it is clear to see the second agenda here, if they were to cut staff to the industry average/plane, around 50 000 staff would need to be laid off, and being a government owned entity, do they sacrifice a couple billion now and again of taxpayers money, or lay off and lose 50 000 voters? but hey, if you were getting a fat salary and were given taxpayers money on a platter to use as you wish for your political campaign, who wouldn't? unethical yes, but does management really have much choice?

SAA employs only about 12000, with 54 planes. 222 staff per plane. Still more than the rest it seems.

They would also rather have 5 people on a plane paying R1800 per leg instead of R1000 per leg + have 20 people on board...
