Expected heaviest this afternoon... I have no idea how much it takes to cause a problem on these tracks, is there a likelihood of abandonment?

Mr. Tobin has been a real beaut at the Vaal Sand, yet he may not be the ‘right beauty’ for the Emerald Cup. Whilst expected to do well again today he will have to work for it with 4 other noms for the Emerald Cup in this race…Approachable, Napoleon Dynamite, Calanish and Beacon Flare with the last two expected to give the most cheek.
Although races 4 + 7 look tricky it is race 8 that is the most intriguing. Made of Magic could well cruise in but just as easily finish way down as often happens with many impressive first time winners on the sand, (draw 1 has only won once in the 45 races run over 1000m in the last 6 months). Regular sand contenders Escape Clause, Kwaaiwater, Extreme West and Super Boy figure as possibilities along with Hang Fire who was also impressive in winning his maiden. Ginepri adds flavour, yet I have a leaning towards Second World and El Cielo at this stage. Should be a fascinating race, especially if you are still in the PA and P6.

I would be surprised if they race - lots of rain up north - and the sand track takes even less rain than the turf - suppose it would come down to how much it rained at the track - and if they have already watered it before the rains came :S

Approachable if taking to surface, could upset MR Tobin.. Ran 4th in the Dingaans to The Apache, dts not bad at all..if brings A game, could Pulverize this field, including MR Tobin..I have my doubts about Mr Tobin winning today..just remember this is or could be a Prep run for the Emerald cup,so DON'T banker Mr Tobin, imo
