Remember Yellow Sam at Bellestown ?
Curley had a friend who occupied the one public phone line at the
course so no off course bookies could lay there liabilities to the on-course bookies,
thus the price stayed at 20/1.
I bet he hates technology, mobiles and laptops.
Read his book The Gambling Man..hilarious stuff

Lets be honest about our perceptions of what is being discussed here. Are we discussing results or what we have made money on.
To me the best ever was the Sage stable. Their info was spot on 99% of the time. They knew their Horses and planned accordingly. I once had a first timer filly that showed exceptional ability. At gallops the stable even went so far as to whitewash the fore legs to confuse the 'professional' punter. At its first start running against its own sex and age and agaisnt Horses with good form I was informed to have a big punt. I did and it arrived.
Thanks to the late Bertie, who is looking down on us and the present Robbie.
What MDK, HB and others are doing on the international scene is highly commendable but I not willy nilly punt their Horses just because they are Africans. I need to know what the opposition is.
IMVHO we have been blessed thru the years with many a GREAT trainer both past and present and I for one compliment them all. Their daily work is thank less and the najority actually love horse so do the best for he animal.
I think we need to salutev ALL trainers and not only the select few.

Most trainers are good, the best are probably those that mostly have longshots arriving
It's not that they don't know their horses,
It's just that they don't know how good they've trained them!
