Or the Gold Vase, however if I had a horse that qualified for the July like Vettel will I would want him to run even if other races suited him better.

i reckon you must just have a look at the last 400m of last years race. PJ had him beaten comfortably and even if they ran another 600m, PJ would still be in front of him. This is my point of view and i respect everyone elses.

I just have a gut feeling that Jackson won't win this year and that run of PJ to the remarkable Igugu was very good. I like English Garden, but when i saw last year's race again, i made my mind up the EG won't beat PJ.......and then PJ's run the other day was excellent without really being noticed!

To me everything in my head is saying PJ.

Tru on that Shrek, any owner will want a entry into the July, but if a horse has done well over distances and Vettel has done (esp Clairwood longer straight) i feel the drop back in trip and maybe short run in may find him out now also in a bigger field of 20 if accepted taht teh few he ran with in teh Daily News imo.

Zietsman Tribal Dance has accepted to run in the KZN Derby so be careful at this stage, rather wait to see if he accepts for the July before getting too involved.

I have decided to go with Pierre Jordaan. Have taken some small bets so far but he will win the July.

Lets hope he runs.

Zietsman,

See you are strong on Tribal Dance so here's more 2 cent advice. The July Gallops are on Thursday 28 June @ 07.00a.m.
The sangoma will be in attendance and there's a strong chance that the bones thrown will show a Tribal Dance in the "picture".

i respect your views on pj,but he has a big negative in that he is from g alexander stable and that stable only wins features in jhb wen racing against jhb trainers.has had very good horses over the years but hasnt managed to win 1 of big 2 races in rsa so i wont back a g alexander horse in july or met even if its 1/10 it can win without my money!

PJ must be the most disappointing and frustrating horse to follow. Ever since his brilliant second to Igugu, look who he has beaten, Without Malice and Engagement, neither of whom would have any realistic chance of winning the July.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Zietsman must be a bookie in disguise.

I think PJ has suffered from soundness problems. I think the stable haven't had the stock over the years, they haven't done a bad job with PJ.
