Technically Belgium were a far superior side, it was the same old England, Scott Parker a decent club player, James Milner the same, no creativity in there midfield, they miss Jack Wilshire who can do the job in the middle of the park..... might of been betterbringing Beckham and Scholes out of retirement...(
)
No width in there game, they will have to improve and quickly if they want to even make that second round.
Portugal just as bad I see, they battling big time, I don't think they will make the second round of Euro2012.

England boss Roy Hodgson has been dealt another massive injury blow after defender Gary Cahill was ruled out of Euro 2012 with a double fracture of his jaw.
Cahill suffered the injury when he was pushed into goalkeeper Joe Hart during the first half of Saturday's 1-0 win over Belgium at Wembley.
He was immediately sent for X-rays, although Hodgson feared the worst and that has now been realised, the Football Association have confirmed.
Liverpool's Martin Kelly has been called up as a replacement.
O my God, another liverpool player, what a terrible summer the english supporters are in for....(

Why won't he select Rio , he has had a great season with united. Kelly wasn't even first choice for lfc. It has to be becos of Terry. Rio said on twitter that he was gotted not to be selected.
That's why I don't fancy England in the Euro"s. They have a bunch of average players in the squad.

Germany had a young squad at the WC and that would have given them lots of experience. They played really well and have a reputation for doing well at international competions.
My money would be on them but Spain and Netherlands would be the dangers.
In saying that they are in the group of death with Denmark, Netherlands and Portugal.
Portugal are playing badly at the moment
I expect Germany and Netherlands to go through

What I don't understand is why you spend so much time talking about the England team... what are they to you? :S Why not pull apart Botswana, Mozambique, Zim or Namibia who are surely your rivals?
< or are they too good for SA?
<
Venables actually talks a lot of sense. England have always had the players, no-one can tell me that other teams wouldn't want Rooney, Hart, Gerrard etc. They may not want them all but then we are not Spain and only one team is. For me, the problem generally is that England can't cope with European opponents and their systems and superior technical ability, the EPL is almost unique in its blood and thunder style which is generally good to watch, I gave up watching other leagues cos they bored me to tears but Spain it must be said now look to be surging ahead. But that is how these trophies are usually won, patient control of the ball and then exploitation of an error. England chase and chase and get kn*ckered and then they are picked apart.
See how long it takes an England club side to win a European trophy, years... and not because they are not the better team. Use United as an example, they lost to loads of far inferior teams in Europe (and are again) before reaching the pinnacle in 99. Chelsea, Arsenal et all have had huge expectations... and I always told supporters of these teams, you won't win it until you stop thinking you will win it. Scouse were an exception to that rule because they built a team and a style of play suited to European football but got battered (as usual) in the league because they couldn't adapt that system to the EPL, it sounds a little contradictory but I'm sure you see the point.
And that is England's position, the realisation has dawned that we have no right to expect to win, and thus maybe and it is a huge maybe, we can sneak in through the back door. It is 100 times harder for the national team though than a club side because many of the players are not in club sides frequenting European football and thus their exposure is far less, they are of course also playing with different players under a different coach when performing for England.
Anyway, enough. Do I expect England to get past the group stages, no. Will it be the biggest shock in the world if we win it, no.

Englander,
The EPL is the best and most watched league in the world.
Most of us would love England to win a tournament but in the 30 years I have been watching English football they have never come close.
I sense your frustration and u are not the only one.
The biggest critics of English football is not the rest of the world but the people from England.
Expectation is always high but the reality is a different story.
