Garrick 100% thanks for putting it so plainly. Abuse and manipulation is man-made. But it is a reality of life. Like all of us who have to work to earn a living and don't really enjoy it - your suffering depends on which level of society you were born into. The same with race horses - if you were the horse born into it, that is your lot. Likewise, if you were born a springbok on a game farm, your inevitable lot will be that you are going to be floored by a cheetah for lunch. But this does not mean that those who control (humans) shouldn't be socially responsible, and I think if you look back at the history of jumps and flats with regards to safety and concern for the animals, we've come some way forward. A little more could and should be done yes I agree.
