Somthing I had been 'fantasizing' about for most of 1999! NOW that would have been a 'Hollywood' story!

Thanks for the welcome Hibernia!

As to how I decide what stallions to introduce to South Africa .... well, actually to my clients ... that would be telling B) ..... but, with the likes of AL MUFTI (USA), FORT WOOD (USA), GOLDKEEPER (USA), and a few others like STRIKE SMARTLY (CAN) ... I seem to have found a method that works!

As I have only been responsible for introducing less than 7% of the stallions imported in the past 20 years, the fact that 37% of the yearlings in the Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 1) catalogue had pedigree content introduced to SAf by me, confirms what I say above.

That said .... keep your eyes open for the new boys on the block - SAIL FROM SEATTLE (CAN), IDEAL WORLD (USA), JUST AS WELL (USA) ..... they have ALL the credentials for success!

And no mention was made of Secretariat's successful big brother SIR GAYLORD who sired SIR IVOR winner of two legs of the English triple crown and a few American races even before Secretariat was born...

Never......no matter how good the sires we can get we have a distinct lack of Blue hens......and should we accidently aquire or happen to have a potential blue hen here the chances are that it will never find the right mating match and will be passed on into
Total obscurity....

SA has a better chance to come up with the next super star than the US does, because in the US too many breeders only care about selling a horse rather than raising or racing a good one. This all changed in the mid 1980s when an actor became the president and changed the tax laws. There are people that still don't realize that the guy was only an actor for godsakes!

Scotia: "Mav thought I would give it a try, what u think? "

Dave you wuss! {sound of one hand clapping as Mav laughs into her laptop}.

Barry, from your lips to God's ears. However, just the sheer difference in scale tips things in favour of the USA being the producer of the next mega-champion. (Mind you, I'd have said the same about the upcoming presidential election. Surely with 250 million people to choose from, you guys have can come up with some better candidates than ... but let me shut up before I get too far above the parapet and have my head shot off).

But oh my goodness golly gracious me, I hope you're right ... I so hope you are right ... that would be something to savour! I get all shivery at the thought ...
