Dave here is Magi selections...
Vaal Turf 9 race card today with some interesting races none more than the second race where we see that smart four year old Shea Shea after a five month rest. Let’s go for it.
Race 1: Sweet Destiny at 5/2 on HB must be a steal after it’s run on Saturday behind Franny
Race 2: Shea Shea 80% fit and he is home. I will be very surprised if the 3yr old filly Jackadore gets close.
Race 3: Brett Warren travels to the Vaal with one runner and no one less than Striker gets the ride. One would expect it to be a hot favourite!!!! Try 33/1 for Beowulf. Faceplates come off and the blinkers go on. Might be worth a few pennies... cannot make a case for it on form though.
Race 4: I am sure there is a lurker here, but there is so much collateral form to sift through. Reine D Ivoire is turning out to be fairly useful and she may be decent value at 9/2 especially if the going id on the outside as it was on Tuesday.
Race 5: Hurricane Jen has the most room for improvement here and is 5kg’s better off with She’s a Stunner for a 1.25 length beating. Maclaine a likely improver 3rd run after a rest and loves the C&D.
Race 6: Uber competitive. Many of these have raced against each other on more than one occasion. Ali Baba a different proposition this C&D. Might just need one more run but could be competitive. Decent outsider is Mining Prospect so include this in all bets. No time to do the maths but I reckon this book is marked up at around 135 %
Race 8: Speculative nibble on Bon Iver and back end of trifecta’s and quartets. Okay, see it is scratched. If running on the weekend over 1400m’s...keep an eye on it.
Race 9: Quick on the draw was backed to win last time out after a very good friendless debut. Include in exotics but the 1600m’s could be a concern. Last time out I tipped Body Snatcher at 45/1 and it ran a good 3rd but the extra 200m’s today may not suit. Very tough race to end on so go wide for a winning ride (yup lame.... I know)
