PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Fairview meeting postponed

The race meeting scheduled at Fairview today Friday 3 February has been postponed to Monday following more than 50mm of rain at Fairview on Thursday night and this morning.
A total of 33mm fell overnight and another 20mm had been recorded by the time the decision to postpone the meeting was taken this morning, when it was still raining.
It was decided to postpone Fairview instead of abandoning the fixture because the meeting scheduled at Flamingo Park in Kimberley on Monday is in jeopardy. There was 70mm of rain at Flamingo Park on Thursday night with more forecast over the weekend

lets hope the track clears up because its still cloudy here and a bit of showers.. why don't they just move it to Arlington instead of Fairview..?

There are 2 main reasons they cant just move to Arlington....

1 The main, feature race of the day is a 1200m straight race. Arlington only has a 1000m straight. Arlington 1200m is around the bend which comes up very quickly so a good ,inside draw is critical. When rcing down the straight at Fairview an outside draw is good but around the Arlington bend this is the worst draw.

2 The horses all would have to be transported to Arlington and this can not be organized that quickly.

Unfortunately we are no longer the transporters of "choice" otherwise there would of been vehicles here to do the change on Friday if necessary but thanks for the confidence......
