I realise that racing cannot control the weather, but they can go a long way to control the effects of the weather.Surely some kind of cover to the racing surface, outside racedays could be viable.I am sure the cost would initially be very high, but amortised over 5 years of abandoned meetings??????

heres a stupid question ,besides the sun and the wind drying out the track is any thing else used to dry it out for example the apparatus used at cricket grounds slewperwhatever ...or do we solely rely on nature in the 21st century?

On Sunday when they had over 100mls of rain the green mats over the horsewalk were washed down onto the course by the force of the river caused by the extremely hard rain. That area is still very wet. Both those sites changed many times and even yesterday afternoon windguru only predicted about 6mls overnight.Saweather said 4mls until late yesterday pm. Accuweather and the 2 sites mentioned already also failed to predict even close to the amount we had on Sunday.

Just assume it's going to piss down in Durban at this time of year and forget the forecasts.>:D< I think the Dolphins have had something like 4 no results from games played in the 1 day series at Kingsmead this season. If the last couple of years are anything to go by, things will hopefully be at least a bit better from January onwards.

Well, we can always hope, hey?

And yes, that storm on Sunday was one of the worst that I can ever remember. It will take some recovering from.
