according to the computaform for fairview race 1 today wins/runs from draw 14-18 5 wins 120 runs.it doesn't even record draw 19 for stats purposes.that surely can't be beneficial?

@cj , that is most likely only because there were less than 14-18 horses in more races more frequently.
fairview does afavour horses drawn wide more often than not and horses tend to track to the outside -that is in sprints only though

Sorry Greg, we have always liked this horse and watching him work this last week, George Uren has his ring next to ours, have seen that he seems to be coming back to himself.

ps emerald gem and september moon both came second over 1000m at this course on 9 sept when drawn no 1 and no 2 respectively which was the exception and which is one of the reasons why i fancy them to win today!

Yup,and 1000m is definitely a sprint.....max runners 18 (that is why nos.18 & 19 are reserves,and why no stats exist)
Like most races,a good draw can be negated if the position is given up to horses with more pace.....EG appears to have enough pace to benefit.
(BTW Winning form stats suggest no advantage or disadvantage on the outside, although jocks do tend to let horses tack to the outside)

It's because there rarely runs the full 20
field and then you have to take into account the SCR which would mean that E.G. is jumping from draw 17.
