Once the final field came out my first choice became Kavanagh. De Kock is a master at winning these races and wouldn't be surprised if any one of his 5 won the race. For fun I will be taking a R60 Tri Box and R120 Quartet Box on the De Kock 5 for the race.

I think Pierre Jordaan is class but is aimed at the Summer Cup and will be hard to beat there. DWTD is ideally track and distance suited but has a large weight I expect her to run a big race. We will have to wait and see how The Mouseketeer does back on grass again. The best outsider could be Two Tone.

Does any one know who between Delpech and Marcus would choose of rides in the 2 big feature races. I would have thought Delpech but his two mounts are bigger prices than Marcus' two.

I think this race is tailor made for an upset - however 20/1 abt Welwitchia obviously looks a steal now; Kavanagh does look the one with the least against him - but as with Welwitchia need to show that the 1600 is not beyond them in this class - DJ Detzky seems very well weighted - has a wide draw, but we all know Striker is a master and 25/1 is a huge price imo
