"I returned to the bookie establishment, produced the ticket for payment, and was paid out accordingly" What would the bookie do if the penter was a" walk in" and did not have an account with them? This guy gets shafted because he is a regular

Put the Hawks onto these bloodsuckers.

The statement below is from Hibernia's post

“In law, you have been unjustifiable enriched (basically your wealth / assets have grown at the expense of ******, for which there was no acceptable reason for you to gain)”.

Don't Bookies, unjustifiably enrich themselves, by manipulating the market, and misleading the punter.

Think about insider buying on the JSE, a punishable offence...so the question is what is different to the way that bookies operate, that puts them above the law.

I still cannot shake the feeling that there is more to this story. Maybe Hibs can get comment from the anonymous bookie?

poor bookies - they must be swerving in these economic times

Most bookies have a limit of 1000/1 on an open bet exacta – so this must have been on an overseas race, where one particular bookie has a rule that the total payout cannot exceed the nett tote pool (or something to that effect).
This rule is probably printed in .0,0005 font and posted in some obscure place in the tatts.
My question - Why did this punter not get legal advise on this.

I don't think the clerk should be blamed for his incompetents as he probably had very little training and is probably earning a very small salary.I think the bookmaker should have taken the loss like a man. Pay peanuts get monkeys

Bob, been there, done that; but what I don't understand is why a limit is placed on it.

These bookies are all one way streets. It is thier way or the highway.

With the Tote, this never would have happened
