Surprise result perhaps, inconsistent I'm not so sure - he won his maiden over 1600 and 'earned' a MR of 83 - followed this up by two mediocre efforts over 1400 (after being gelded and rested) and 1200 and then failed twice on the sand - as a result this MR dropped 13 points to 70 - back today over a more suitable trip (beong out of a Rakeen mare) you had to give hom some sort of chance against some well tried and really moderate sorts - anyway that's how I saw it.

Having said that, I agree that 'the authorities' do not do enough to discourage inconsistent performance

Frodo, you are right.....but what I would like to see is an indication that "surprise" results at least warrant a query and explanation.
It would send the message to ALL that BIG BROTHER is at least watching.
If we want new punters it is imperative for racing to project an image of "no nonsense"regulation.
Racing is thriving where regulation could well be described as Draconian!

Can't argue with that, rob.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself - came really close to some nice money today - missed a piece of the R160 000+ P6 in the first leg (where I had both the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed horses) :(
