I hear that Delago Deluxe was sent to Bass at Laird's suggestion, as the horse is to be aimed at the Cape Guineas and Laird doesn't want to take horses to the Cape. Charles relocated to KZN and cut his string right down, partly to spend more time with family than running around all over the world to races and sales like he used to. He is almost semi-retired, in a sense.

Sounds like some people thinks that the one race where igugu was beaten by Ebony Flyer was a luck shot, yeah this yeah that, Ebony Flyer has beaten Igugu and sure as hell can do it again. That was no luck shot and she proved her class by beating THE MIGHTY POCKET POWER on a track and distance that PP loves. The Queen's Plate was run a month after Igugu's big lost (eina), EF ran 3.2sec faster in the Queen's Plate, given that she carried 5.5kg less, add 0.78sec to her time and that makes her 16.2 lenghts better than when she beat Igugu, yes I know it was a different race with different horses.
We will only know who's the best if they meet again(last time it was Ebony Flyer), and I think a fair distance will be 1800m or even 2000m.

Horses historically have been judged on their best days and what they have accomplished, not what they might accomplish in the future.

On the day, Ebony Flyer dominated Igugu and came right back to become one of the very few 3yo fillies to place in the Queen's Plate.

What she does going forward will be interesting, but in no way will negate what she accomplished.

As most people by now know, Ebony Flyer underwent an operation on her wind during the Durban season. Most likely she will now prove best over 1400 to 1600.

To the moron that posted on this board that we made up an excuse, it surely most have been one of the most elaborate and costly schemes ever devised to save face, because we flew in a veterinarian surgeon from Kentucky to perfom the operation.

As I noted earlier, my racing stable has raced some very successful fillies and mares, and I rate Ebony Flyer as the best of the lot. If she can improve on what she has done following surgery, that will be a bonus.
