As far as Rocket Man/JJ/Black Caviar............options
Ascot targets Rocket Man for Golden Jubilee bid
GOLDEN SHAHEEN winner Rocket Man is one of several international superstars who could be in action at Royal Ascot this season.
Ascot's Nick Smith has been busy for months talking to connections of horses in Australia, America and Japan, hoping to lure them to the royal meeting, and on Sunday he said potential entrants included Singapore sprinter Rocket Man.
His next race will be in Singapore [KrisFlyer International Sprint at Kranji] also for JJ in May and then they'll have a look at the Golden Jubilee."
Patrick Shaw, trainer of Rocket Man, is keen to take on Australian supermare Black Caviar. Speaking to the Singapore Turf Club's website, Shaw said: "Royal Ascot is run up the straight and he has never run on a straight track before, but at some stage we will have to take on a straight track if we are to take on Black Caviar."
"That is a possibility at some stage if the money is right. I have watched her race and at some stage we will have to meet somewhere to find which is the best horse. Bring on the money."
Sunny King, third in the Golden Shaheen at Meydan on Saturday, is under consideration for the King’s Stand, Australian sprinter Star Witness is almost certain to run at the royal meeting, while Al Quoz Sprint winner JJ The Jet Plane – who has raced in Britain for Mike de Kock and Richard Hannon – could bypass Royal Ascot and go for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket, another leg of the Global Sprint Challenge.
Trainer Peter Moody opted not to travel overseas with Black Caviar this season and the world's highest ranked racehorse won her fourth Group One in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday.
Black Caviar is scheduled to travel out of her home state of Victoria for the first time to contest the $1 million TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick on April 9.
