No Sheema Classic for Snow Fairy after setback

SNOW FAIRY is out of the Dubai Sheema Classic on World Cup night at Meydan on Saturday with a minor leg injury.

Snow Fairy's performances had prompted connections to consider a shot at the world's richest race, the $10 million Dubai World Cup, before the Sheema Classic was finally chosen and she was Blue Square's 9-4 favourite for the $5m contest.

"It is disappointing for everyone, especially the owner and coming so close to the race we have no option but to withdraw the filly."

Rewilding, third in the Investec Derby last season and not seen since disappointing as favourite for the Ladbrokes St Leger, is the new 9-4 favourite for the Sheema Classic with Blue Square.

Snow Fairy's defection means that South African Derby winner Irish Flame, runner-up to Mike de Kock-trained stable companion Bold Silvano in the Durban July, gets a run in the Sheema Classic.

The four-year-old has already been beaten three times after three defeats at the Meydan Carnival this year.

Dubai Sheema Classic
Blue Square: 9-4 Rewilding, 3 Dangerous Midge, 7 Rulership, 9 Laaheb, 10 Golden Sword, Redwood, 20 bar

I guess Golden Sword will beat Irish Flame but still has to beat Rewilding, Snow Fairy would have been very hard to beat in this field...imo

Queally excited by World Cup hope Twice Over

DUBAI World Cup favourite Twice Over, who is a very warm order for Saturday's Dubai World Cup following the defection of main rival Bold Silvano, pleased Tom Queally in a routine spin on Meydan's Tapeta surface this morning.

Henry Cecil is not due in the Emirates until Thursday, but he should be pleased with what he finds on his arrival, for his Eclipse and dual Champion Stakes winner has done well since beating Musir and Gitano Hernando, who reopposes on Saturday, in round 2 of the Al Maktoum Challenge at Meydan last month.

Queally, who has been on Twice Over every morning since he flew to Dubai after enjoying a day out at Cheltenham, said: "He's grand - he's in good form. It was just routine work but he quickened well, and it's so far, so good. He's happy in himself and seems to have tightened up since his win. He was good that night."

Very Bad draw for Twice Over a bit deja vu from last year(td) but it looks a weaker race than last year
