Well if you want to read my ramblings on tonight's card at Turffies, go to
www.frodoramble.co.za
; it is a subscription service....................:D, but for the Clan I'll post it here anyway - at worst it may provide a slightly different perspective from the norm, and at best I may even find a winner.
Race 1 and 2 look pretty straighforward, so I'll skip those.
R3: Calais Gold holds some of these on her last run, and looks the right one. Porche Lady's last run was too bad to be true, and she may improve to place with Marcus in the irons, while Addy My Love needs to find plenty of improvement on her first run and is no value at 1/1 imo - Littondale is improving with racing and could place.
R4: Plated race, where some of the contenders have tough tasks at the weights; Dancewiththedevil has failed at her only attempt over the distance, but the way she has been running on over shorter suggests that this 1600 is what she is looking for, so a worthy favorite imo.Pimpinella could also improve over this trip, and Beautiful You (shortening in the betting and with Striker up) could be the joker in the pack.
R5: Kavanagh the obvious one, but he may just need it and I think Count Express is good value at 7/2; I see Count Express is at 9/10 in a match bet with Galileo's Galaxy - this is THE bet of the evening, as GG now needs more ground imo - in which case Captain Scott could sneak a place.
R6: Now it gets tough; the obvious ones are Calpurnius, Island Prince and Tobrusky, for some value consider including Satish and Obvious Intentions (who won a really nice maiden under the lights); Tatankwa has useful PE form, but may prefer 1000 imo. Most of the others holds some sort of chance in a race where one would not feel safe without the field in exotics
R7: Alwaysahummer won first time out, but did not beat much imo, so would need further improvement to follow up; Oil Sheik and Greek Lover (who seems to not like soft ground) are obvious dangers, for a bit of value I like Roman Warrior (beat a subsequent winner by 6 lenghts last time) and Who's Foolng Who (a filly against colts, but she could upset in a weakish field imo)
R8: Another competitive handicap to close, not made any easier by the ex-Cape horse Kayhalidin, who seems classy enough, but how he will fare under the lights is anyone's guess; Rebel Night could feature, but in terms of PA's the safest option should be Officer Class, who has yet to finish unplaced over this track and trip; however there is not much between OC, Gold Game and Umfutho on their last run's, and Emperor Elect could also upset at best; then there is also Gourmet Guru who came back from a rest last year to win over this trip at 14/1 - load up.
Probably tempting fate, but here are some suggested PA and P6 inclusions:
PA:
1 or 2 (whichever takes your fancy)
1,2,12
1,8 (9 if you feel adventurous)
5
3,5,10,12 (9 as a real roughie)
3 (banker for the brave), 4,6,7,12
4,9 (1,2,12,13 to play it safe)
P6:
1,2,12
1,4,5,8,10,12
4,5
1,3,5,9,10
3,4,7,10,12
1,2,3,4,7,12,14
R315 I think will get you 5% - quite expensive I know, so perhaps the Kavanagh fans can bank him and get 10%
Hope that the rain and lightning stays away - play well
P.S. Got to love the advert for 'The Deck' in the Computaform - it provides 'a fantastic view, service fit for a king and a vibe 2nd to none'; they just neglected to add 'complimented by the pungent aromas of the rubbish dump'

I notice that Grant Knowles never asks for pointers to later horse's well being......not tips just the well being .
Would have helped Kabz's assessment of Winds Of War perhaps when interviewing Joey/Glen.

Why ask when you already know...

greg in your first pot, did you just copy my numbers from the P6? In that case, perhaps in the 3rd leg, it may be wise to include the 12 (coupled with the 1 in the P6 but of course not the JP)
