Not sure what you wanted CS to do. Experienced jockeys in front of him. They ride to win not like our guys who let the opposition through. CS was in the perfect possy on the rail. Could not get through in the straight unless he had wings. Look at the race again and again and tell me what you would have done differently.

Harris, you must be joking? Definitively speaking from my pocket(!), at the top of the straight there is a 2 horse gap to the outside and the bloke drives straight into the garage. As it happened even my wife called the bloke an idiot in real time ;)

Even if there were two gaps, why go inside where experieneced jockeys are not going to open the door for you. No one with any interest in River Jetez can possibly think that it was even a mediocre ride. I look forward to his comments tomorrow.

Bankable would've beaten Our Giant last week with a clear run imo. The front horses here seem to steal a march on the wider ones, but alternatively if you choose then to stay close to the rail from off te pace you usually can't get a run.

There was a clear gap a mile wide 200 from home that left the door wide open for Soumillon to go through. I'm usually a big fan of his but he's been around long enough to know that going for a gap on the rail that you wouldn't fit a greyhound through was completely brainless. Whoever punted the game mare can feel extremely hard done by.

I remember Kevin Shea doing the same thing on Sun Classique in Dubai a few years ago except her class got her home. River Jetez will be back for more I have no doubt but I can't see De Kock taking much more of Soumillons antics. I think his problem is he overdoes the flamboyance and flair instead of giving a more professional ride, but I'm sure MDK knew this already.

I think Soumillon should watch a few videos of Ryan Moore and Anton Marcus. Very rarely do you see them making errors and they always give their mounts the best chance to win...

Errors are inevitable, even for top jocks, but CS's decision not to take the blatant gap that is clearly visible in the head on is actually impossible to believe. If this was in a country where gambling was legal the King Commission would be small in comparison to this enquiry into skullduggery.

Did my absolute life with River Jetez. It was an awful ride by Soumillion. However, it was an error in judgement. Burn't a hole in my pocket, but it happens.
What concerns me more is his ride on Here to Win. He seemed to just coast home the last 250m. No effort was made whatsoever to extend her.

It will be interesting to hear what MDK thinks. Hopefully one of our journalists have the common sense to ask him.

Top performers return for third day of Carnival
Racing Post

Preview: UAE, Thursday 5.45pm GMT, (Live on ATR, RUK and Sky Sports)

PRESVIS (Luca Cumani/Ryan Moore) is one of several Group 1 performers taking their chance in Thursday's Group 2 Al Rashidiya, the 1m1f turf feature of the third Carnival meeting of the season at Meydan.

Run over the same course and distance as World Cup night's Group 1 Dubai Duty Free, a race Cumani's charge was runner-up in 2009 at Nad Al Sheba, 2005 winner Right Approach went on to dead-heat in that year's Duty Free for Mike de Kock.

The South African has won this race on three occasions and introduces Group 1 winner Irish Flame to the fray, but he is penalised for that victory at the top level and this trip would be his absolute minimum.

The most successful international trainer at the Carnival, De Kock is on 99 UAE winners whereas Godolphin handler Saeed Bin Suroor leads the carnival rankings and is seeking his 100th carnival winner and250th in the UAE.

He has won this race four times, including last year with Alexandros and relies on Australian import Caymans who was bitterly disappointing on one British start on heavy ground. It must be noted though that Bin Suroor has saddles the winner of the feature race at both the first two carnival meetings.

Presvis is one of three runners from Britain and is joined by Bushman (David Simcock/Jamie Spencer) and course and distance winner Steele Tango (Roger Teal/Ted Durcan). Britain has yet to win this race but Ireland did in 2008 with Lord Admiral although they are not represented this year.

Ismail Mohammed won the race in 2007 with Formal Decree and relies on Third Set (Richard Hills) on the horse's second run back since World Cup night 2009.

Mahmood Al Zarooni has saddled a winner at each of the first two meetings and is well represented with former Mark Johnston inmate Sea Lord (Ahmed Ajtebi) and 2010 German 2,000 Guineas winner Frozen Power (Mickael Barazalona). They both ran in the opening round of the Maktoum Challenge and should appreciate this return to turf.

Elsewhere on the card, De Kock's 2010 UAE Oaks (Tapeta) winner Raihana returns in the concluding 1m turf handicap in which Ed Dunlop's Fareer has been pleasing connections.

What they say. . .

Ahmed Ajtebi, stable jockey to Mahmood Al Zarooni, trainer of Sea Lord and Frozen Power
"I have picked Sea Lord and we have a great draw in one [of 13] for a horse who likes to race prominently. He ran well enough in the Maktoum Challenge and has been working very nicely since. The switch back to turf [from Tapeta] will suit him and I think he will run a very big race.

"It was not an easy choice as Frozen Power is also a very nice horse and did finish in front of Sea Lord in that Maktoum Challenge. He too will appreciate returning to grass and is going well at home."

David Simcock, trainer of Bushman
"Our runner (Lord of the Stars) ran well last week and the horses do seem to have taken the trip and everything very well. He is a genuine Group 2 performer as he showed last year and we have a decent draw.

"The horse he beat at Epsom (Alexandros) won this race last year so that offers encouragement but it looks a strong renewal and I think he will improve for the run."

Eduardo Martins, trainer of Tequilla Heights
"We have race fitness on our side and we are hoping the switch to grass helps but it is a good race and he looks to face a stiff task."

Richard Mullen, rider of Birbone
"He is better on turf but the visor will need to bring out some improvement in what looks a very hot contest."

Christophe Lemaire, rider of Le Drakkar
"I rode him last time behind Steele Tango and he ran well and was not beaten far, but we meet him on worse terms so it looks a big ask."

Mike De Kock, trainer of Irish Flame
"This is one of the horses we have really been looking forward to campaigning in Dubai and this looks the perfect start point. He has a Group 1 penalty over a trip short of his best but he is going very nicely in the mornings.

"The mile and a half races are his real targets later in the carnival but we need to start somewhere so here we are. I am sure he will run well but it would be a bit of a surprise to see him win under these conditions."

Saeed Bin Suroor, trainer of Caymans
"The horses have been running well and he seems in very good form since arriving in Dubai. His run in England was disappointingbut that was because of heavy ground and he certainly won't get that at Meydan where the faster conditions should really suit him. I am certainly hopeful."

Ted Durcan, rider of Steele Tango
"It is nice to get back on the horse as I won on him in England and Roger [Teal, trainer] is certain the horse has improved from his winning run two weeks ago. This is obviously a tougher race but we are nicely drawn and I am looking forward to it.

"You have to respect the likes of Irish Flame and Presvis but we have the benefit of a run."

Rashed Bouresly, trainer of Grand Hombre
"He needed his comeback run and should build on that. We are trying him on turf as he has only had two previous starts on it."

Mubarak bin Shafya, trainer of Tam Lin
"Obviously we have ground to make up on Steele Tango but this horse is undoubtedly talented as he showed when third on Super Thursday last year over course and distance. We are trying the blinkers to try and coax that bit more out of him."

Richard Hills, rider of Third Set
"It is a nice spare ride on a horse with plenty of ability; I remember him in England winning big handicaps at Ascot and Glorious Goodwood. Then he won the Zabeel Mile in his first season here.

"He must have needed that run last week having been off since March 2009 and he was second in this race that year also. It would be a good training feat but hopefully he be competitive."

Charlie Henson, assistant to Luca Cumani, trainer of Presvis
"Obviously the draw [13 of 13] is not the best but with his style of racing, Ryan [Moore, rider] will be looking to settle him off the speed anyway. Hopefully there will be a good fast gallop but he is going to improve for the run as has been off since Royal Ascot.

"We know he likes Dubai and he is a course and distance winner, but we will find out where we stand tonight and it will help us decide whether to target the Duty Free or Sheema Classic on World Cup night."

Mr Brock continues to build up for the big one

Meydan (Dubai): Insideout Trophy (Conditions) 1m2f, Standard (Tapeta), 3yo+

This 1m2f Tapeta conditions contest is over the same course and distance as the $10million Dubai World Cup, a race Mike De Kock's Mr Brock was beaten less than three lengths last year.

He should go close with Wealthy (Saeed BinSuroor/Frankie Dettori) and Pallodio (John Hammond/Richard Hills) looking the main dangers.

What they say. . .

Tadhg O'Shea, rider of Monte Alto
"He was an absolute star last year and was so unlucky not to win at the carnival. He made a pleasing return but has struggled on the tuft twice since so hopefullycoming back to Tapeta will help but it looks a strong race."

Mike De Kock, trainer of Mr Brock
"He was a different horse on the Tapeta last season when getting an invitation to the World Cup itself and needed his return badly. He is a course and distance winner and Kevin (Shea) gets on particularly well with him.

"He has a lot in his favour but will again improve from this as we have big race aims again later on at the carnival."

Richard Hills, rider of Pallodio
"I rode him work last week and was delighted; he really seems to love the Tapeta and has form on a similar surface in France. We have a nice enough draw in the centre and he should be very competitive.

"His Group 1 form reads well and I am definitely looking forward to riding him in a race but I am sure he will come on for the run."

Christophe Lemaire, rider of Trois Rois
"He looked good when winning in December and hopefully the return to Tapeta will suit him."

Saeed Bin Suroor, trainer of Honour System, Psychic Ability, Wealthy and Enak
"All four are working well with Enak having the benefit of a run when a good second to Steele Tango. That horse runs in the big race tonight [Group 2 Al Rashidiya] so theform looks good and Enak proved himself on Tapeta last year.

"Frankie (Dettori) rides Wealthy who is a new horse in the yard but has some good form in France. He works well on the surface and looks ready for a big run.

"There would be little between them or the other pair but Mickael (Barzalona) knows Honour System well from France and likes the horse. Psychic Ability won his last two and seems in good form so we have to be hopeful of big runs all round."

Herman Brown, trainer of Bronze Cannon
"His two runs this season have pleased us as he was badly in need of the first, but proved he handled the surface, and both runs have been over shorter trips. This distance is more suitable and he looks to have a decent chance in an apparently wide open contest."

Wayne Smith, rider of Espiritu
"It looks a nice spare ride on a horse proven under conditions but who has been off a long while. He represents a yard making their carnival debut (trainer Ghanim Al Marri) but the horse is pleasing them so fingers crossed he can run well."

Ahmed Ajtebi, rider of Jalil
"He was beaten less than three lengths last week on his first start in almost a year and only second since March 2009. We were delighted with that and hopefullyhe can return to something approaching his best."

Tony Manuel, trainer of Noisy Silence
"He was my stable star last year and I he seems to retain plenty of that undoubted ability. He was badly in need of his comeback run after a troubled summer but he does need to prove himself on Tapeta."

Shane Foley, rider of Fighting Brave
"It was a good first run in race won by Steele Tango and he has won on this kind of surface. It looks a strong race but I am hoping he goes well."
