Vaal race 3 - fair percentages for once !

As much as I said earlier that I have the utmost respect for Morris Vee, I really doubt that any bookmaker would offer his or her clients 104% on an online book. I think Kevin perhaps doesn't have too much bookmaking experience and is letting his enthusiasm carry him away. One should be careful about making promises that aren't kept. We've had a lot of that from bookmakers on this site.

what i am basically telling you is that almost all the time after laying the stretches and streches on multiples when we do our reports at the end of the day most often our average percentage on the day ends up around 104.
I am cetainly not saying that we will put out betting at 104 % as we take the betting from The Bookmakers' Studio and we add on to the prices.(stretches)
Over time as they (studio) brings down the percentage, so will ours come down.

Thanks for clearing that up Kevin. One quick question (and before you answer think carefully because you may be quoted later !) :
Many punters on this site have had their limits cut at betting sites because they back "hot" horses or because they have a winning streak. I have suffered this fate recently, having had my limits cut at Victor Chandler and Sportingbet (ironically I lost a fortune elsewhere). Will you cut peoples limits if they win or back hot horses ?

Why is a site not able to set it's limits,arrange its systems and then apply those rules to All its on-line punters.
I can understand limits to prevent last minute lop-sided books,but not why individuals would be selected and singled out.
Another good advert for Exchanges IMO.

No price fixing
Everybody can be a bookmaker and start at any level (no inhibition to transformation)
Unusual betting patterns can be scrutinised by authorities and lead to exposures.

Can't see a valid objection...............nothing else but a fixed-price tote!

I think the bottom line is that if most online bookmakers are not fleecing making a consistent profit out of someone, they cut their limits to ridiculously low amounts. I would hope the government realises that it's pointless protecting bookmakers from the competition of exchanges when bookies only want to cater for those people that the responsible gambling act tries to protect.
If the bookmaking industry continues in this manner, then I think eventually the doors to competition have to open.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh generalizing, I have just had some bad experiences lately with limits being cut. It's also not a good sign that Kevin wouldn't answer my question on a public forum.

I think anyone who is granted a bookmaking licence online should lay a minimum of 10k - even to the people they don't want as clients. They can then shorten the horse if the person is deemed a shrewdie.
This is 2010 for goodness sake - bookmakers were laying 50k of a horse in the silver ring 20 years ago. I think if bookmakers are too small to lay at least 10k of their prices on offer, then they shouldnt be allowed to open websites.
Gambling is very regulated in this country. It's about time that the service offered is as well.

i agree 10k minimun or they should be closed down,,,when i see a bookmaker in this country beton local horseracing to 104 percent i will donate 10 000 rand to the horsecare unit....this has to be at least 1 hour before the race not when the last horse is loaded ....dream merchants
