50% reduction for 4th place, absolute disgrace, they might as well smash down all the 4th place boxes at every course now. :X I'm so effing glad I only own in syndicates now, I had a very average horsey in past 2 years and picking up the small stakes for 3rd/4th/5th was a small positive to a very expensive hobby, thank god he's now retired and making someone else very happy in his new home.

southpaw, i agree 4th and 5th stakes important to small time owner, helps plenty to reduce monthly costs. they should have dropped 1st prize from 62.5 - 60 % and keep the smaller places still going... albeit small cheques, they all add up.

thank goodness my 2 are running in P country, are we going to go the same way ?

KZN trainers to set up satelite yards in Phum country. It's a possibility. What do you think?

What happened to sponsorship and marketing. But then again what can you market?
What contribution have bookies made to the stakes pot.
Its time for the free ride to end

Richard Hannon Jnr just had a go on the tv in the UK he said their winner in the first Cost £50k to buy and £15k to get to track and just won £1.5k,something needs to be done he says, when he was in Australia they were getting more for running round beer bottles(not sure i understand this comment?).He goes onto say that windsor is packed to the rafters all summer and they still can`t pay the winners decent cheques..something needs to be done !

Hibs, if that's the type of stakes being offered.....why get involved ? I know they often race 4 - 5 runners in U.K. but still, those stakes are PATHETIC. I would have left a long time ago.

Never mind the stakes, what about the training fees, we might moan but the man in the street can have an interest in racing in SA but in the UK certainly a richer man required.
Thats why they have dog racing?
