Marcus holds the aces at Greyville

websize little miss me

Followers of top-flight jockey Anton Marcus should have a profitable Wednesday at the Greyville Polytrack where he has a hot book of rides on the eight-event card.

He is unlikely to miss in Race 1 when aboard Paul Lafferty-trained Buckleberry in a 1000m Maiden Plate. This three-year-old was a runner-up in his last three starts, but subsequently rested and gelded, should recoup losses.

Marcus’ mount, Hey Jude, out of Robbie and Shannon Hill’s stable will be in warm order in Race 2, a Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1200m. This three-year-old has been placed in her three runs this season – the last of which after a rest, was an encouraging 0.90-length second. She will be fitter this time and with the advantage of pole position should go one better.

Stick with Marcus in Race 4 when aboard Lafferty-trained Mokoko in a 1600m Maiden Plate. This three-year-old had finished third in her three outings but can be considered unlucky last time because she had a bad start and was cramped for galloping room as well. With Marcus called on for the first time the combination should be in the winner’s enclosure.

Brett Crawford-trained two-time winner Little Miss Me (Marcus) looks a standout bet in Race 6, a MR 62 Handicap (F&M) over 1400m. This filly’s first win was over 1400m at Durbanville and her subsequent win was four runs back when partnered by Marcus and scoring gamely over 1200m at the Greyville Polytrack. However, in her most recent outing, when not having a trouble-free run, she confirmed her current wellbeing with a promising, fast-finishing third over 1400m at the Greyville Polytrack.

Marcus looks on target to claim victory in Race 8 when teamed up with Louis Goosen-trained three-time winner Di Mazzio in a 1000m MR 74 Handicap. This gelding was a bright second in his last run with a maximum-claiming apprentice aboard, but with Marcus up for the first time and having the best of the draw this five-year-old should be on the mark.
